During Reading (cont.)
Conflict: Percy, Frank, and Hazel fight Alcyoneus.
Theme: Author's Purpose: Entertain Point of View: First Person, Third Person Vocabulary: scrounge: seek to obtain. vaguest: of uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning. writhing: To twist, as in pain, struggle, or embarrassment. imbecile: A stupid or silly person; a dolt. dimwit: a stupid person Finding the big idea in texts: Its more of a mix between emotion and issue. He uses a lot of foreshadowing to show what someone might be thinking even though he's not really talking about that character. I can't connect to this. I have heard this in the other books he's written. |
After Reading
Focusing on text-to-self connections:
This reminds me of the Greek myths that I've heard before. I can relate to Frank because he doesn't know his spot in this whole quest yet, and I don't know what I be later in life. There's nothing that I can relate to in my life. |
